Fiona Shields

OPERATIONS INTERN
Born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado, Fiona developed a passion for languages and cultures from a young age. She began learning French at 11 years old and followed her love of all things French and Francophone through college where she minored in the language. After graduating from Linfield University with a B.A. in Anthropology in 2021 she moved to rural northern France for the 2021-2022 school year. Here Fiona worked as a Language Assistant in three secondary schools, helping students learn English and aspects of American culture. Fiona strongly believes that as the world becomes more globalized, understanding of other cultures will be imperative to creating both an effective global society and – more importantly – compassionate human beings. Languages are central to this, and she is thrilled to be part of a team who has made connection and communication their mission.
Now back home in Colorado, Fiona can often be found on a hiking trail, at a trivia night, with her nose in a book, or talking enthusiastically about some new linguistic fact she’s discovered. She is excited to join the team at Freestyle Languages to facilitate a more multilingual and connected world!
