MARKETING & SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN
Born and raised in the DFW area to Nicaraguan parents, Rafael grew up in an OPOL (one parent, one language) household. His father would speak to him in Spanish while his mother would speak to him in French. After being enrolled in school, Rafael began to quickly learn English with the help of media and entertainment. To strengthen his French skills, he enrolled in the Alliance Française at age 9, where he quickly fell in love with Francophone language, literature, and culture. This led him to pursue a BA in International Relations and Global Studies with minors in French and Business, as well as a Business Spanish certificate.
Now a senior at The University of Texas at Austin graduating in May 2023, Rafael plans to teach English abroad in the fall. In his free time, he can be found watching sitcoms, singing along to music, and running in his neighborhood park. Rafael is very excited to combine his love of business, language, and culture while working with Freestyle Languages. He loves that Freestyle allows people all around the world to collaborate and learn with each other in an authentic way.
